The Hot Lunch Team is gearing up for the 2009-2010 school year. The team this year will be Emily Emerson and Jill Ross. The Hot Lunch program is a self-sufficient program and does not receive any financial help from the school. All of our food and supplies are paid for by money received from lunch orders. All food is ordered and paid for prior to serving lunch. Volunteers are needed to help serve the food in order for the program to be successful. The following will explain the details regarding the Hot Lunch program: (Also, take a look at the sample order form to help you)
- Hot lunch is served on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
- Lunch tickets will only be accepted on a monthly basis.
- Lunch tickets will be sent home the first Friday of the month and be due back by the following Friday unless otherwise indicated. Lunch tickets may be dropped off at the office or given to the student’s teacher. In order to process lunch tickets and place orders with vendors, no late tickets will be accepted.
- Payment is required when you turn in your lunch order form.
- Vendors will be: Subway, Black-eyed Pea, Nicolo’s, Swirl’s, Chick-Fil-A, Rubio’s, Egg Roll King. We may add others as the year progresses. All other meals will be prepared by the Hot Lunch team.
- When completing the lunch tickets, please be sure to indicate your child’s preference for hamburger, pizza, spaghetti, and penne lunches. Monthly directions will be attached with each lunch ticket. You may order a full meal, an entrée only or a combination of both.
- Fieldtrip days will be noted on the lunch form provided that the information is given to us in a timely manner. Please double check with your child’s teacher or the newsletter. If a field trip is scheduled or rescheduled on a hot lunch day and the food has already been ordered, we WILL NOT issue credits. If food has not been ordered, we will issue credits.
- In an effort to keep our costs low and keep from raising lunch prices, we have changed our policy regarding credits. Credits will only be issued for mistakes made when tallying your Hot Lunch ticket. We will no longer issue credits due to illness. Arrangements can be made for picking up your child’s lunch or for a sibling to eat the meal. Please make arrangements prior to the lunch with either Cassie or Jill. To redeem your credit slip, it must be stapled to the lunch form and the deduction made after the ticket has been totaled.
- Overpayment will not be sent home with your child, but can be used to help pay for the upcoming Hot Lunch ticket. At the end of the school year, any overpayments will be given to back to you. We will send out information indicating the procedure to redeem credit for cash at that time.
- In case of a snow day (no school), hot lunch will be moved to the next day, when possible. You will be notified as to the procedure for that day. Again, if there are any conflicts with field trips, credits will not be issued, but arrangements can be made to pick up your child’s food or to have a sibling eat the lunch.
- Parents are welcomed, even encouraged, to eat lunch with their child(ren). You may even sign up to eat a hot lunch by adding an extra number to the quantity of the child with whom you intend to eat. Credits cannot be issued to parents who sign up and cannot make the lunch.
- Milk is NOT included in the hot lunch price.
- Our prices will vary according to the vendor. The prices for each lunch will be listed on the monthly menu sheet. Do not return the menu sheet, but use it to keep track of your child’s hot lunch days.
We offer snacks for the Middle School students (6th-8th grade) between 10:30-11:00 am on hot lunch days (Tues, Wed, Thurs). We offer a variety of chips, desserts, and fruits. Prices range from $.25 to @.50 per item.
